Sh. Funadhoo School - Maldives

Funadhoo School first opened its doors on 16th March 1972 as Makthabul Muneer. It was founded by a renowned personality late Mr.Abdulla Abdulkareem. The school was operated as a community school, Quran and Dheeniyath were the two subjects taught at the beginning. In 1980 the name of the school was changed from Makthabul Muneer to Farukholhu Funadhoo Makthab. After 10 years, in 1990, the school was again renamed as Farukholhu Funadhoo School. Since the name of our island was changed to Funadhoo, the name of the school was also presumed to be rewritten to its present name Funadhoo School on 14th March 1995.
The school started its progress slowly, in 1995 our school became a fully blossomed primary school with grades 1 to 5. 148 students were enjoying the congenial atmosphere to attain

academic excellence in the year 1996. With the benevolent cooperation of the Funadhoo community, our school was upgraded to grade 7 in 1997. The development of our school was paced further when grade 8 was added in 2000.
The golden era of our Funadhoo School started when it was taken over by the government in 2001. The expectation to excel and make significant progress paid off when the first batch attended the O’ level examination in 2002. With the commencement of A’ level in 2006, Funadhoo school was fully equipped academically and the school was declared as a higher secondary school.
At present, 638 children are learning in a creative learning environment that inspires them to be independent, curious and selective. A total of 82 teaching and non-teaching staff always work together at their best to provide a rich, relevant and intellectual learning experience to our students to bring out the best in them.
A values-driven curriculum with educational programmes and extracurricular activities, Funadhoo school offers the students the best environment for their overall development. The parents’ voice is always valued and it helped all the way to achieve what it has to date.
